Going to the fair today.   Wish you were with me to hold onto my arm and walk around all the people acting like kids again.   The silly games of chance, spending 5 bucks to throw a ball, a ring, or a dart to win an over-sized stuffed animal. Rides that creak and shake as they whip you around, turn you upside down, or carry you to the clouds so you can look over everything.   The lights flickering as dusk sets in, laughter and screaming filling the air.  Funhouses, face painting, and fake tattoos.  A variety of animals to pet, feed, and ride including the pig races.  The food….steak on a stick, french fries dripping with salted oil, ice cream, bbq, funnel cakes, turkey legs, caramel apples, and cotton candy.  Did I mention I go for the food?

Oh how I  wish you were here with me!

I cover my eyes as I hear you run off down the hall, your little summer dress flowing and Mr. Snuggles tucked under your arm.   “1…..2……3…….4…..” I can hear your added giggles and doors opening and closing.  “5…..6….7…8….” more shuffles from upstairs and creaks on the wooden floor boards.  “9……10….Here I come!” I give you false hope as I open closets and stomp around the main floor before carefully climbing the steps in silence.   The same little goans of the floor are just louder warnings that Daddy was getting closer.

I find your little dress on the floor and my smile expands “Some little girl lost her dress, I will find you.” then those muffled giggles I crave as I walk into my room to find you sprawled out on the bed with only your head under the pillow and blankets using that worn out rabbit as some sort of magic invisible wall.  What you didn’t know was he was actually pointing out your hiding spot to me.  “Hmmmm I wonder where my sweet little baby had gone.”  I move over with tiptoes and bite your ass through your panties as you scream and blankets fly.  “Got you!” as you hop into my arms pulling me down on the bed I cover your smiles with kisses.
